style=\"text-align: left;\">On Wednesday, April 22, was the third of a series of ten lectures dedicated to the Armenian Genocide under the general title <em>Ten Lessons on a Genocide. <\/em>The series is organized by<em> <\/em> the Hellenic-Armenian Studies Center (HASC) of Athens, Greece and organized by the\u00a0 The title of the third lecture was <em>The Epos of an Unslaved People. <\/em> In his opening remarks journalist George Venetsanos referred to his childhood recollections from his neighborhood peopled by Armenian refugees. The main speaker, Joseph Kassesian, secretary of\u00a0 HASC, spoke of the <strong>indomitable<\/strong> spirit of the subdued Armenian people, who was able to preserve its\u00a0 language, traditions and national\u00a0 conscience and its freedom-loving spirit, to revolt a number of times against its oppressors and finally, after a brilliant cultural and spiritual renaissance, to present dynamically its national cause in front of history. The fact that the Armenians were a solid social body, consisting of large numbers of people, with a higher than the one of its oppressors cultural level was a fact that rendered\u00a0 their assimilation or their total submission impossible. Thus, its tyrants were faced with only two possible solutions to the Armenian Question: either to offer the Armenian people complete equality within the frame of the Ottoman Empire or to expel and exterminate them.
